Delete your account

You can delete your Hookabet account at any time, yourself, in a few seconds. Deleting it is immediate and permanent.

In the app or on the web

  1. Open Hookabet: the app on your phone, or app.hookabet.com/settings in any browser.
  2. If you saved your progress to Google and this device doesn’t have it yet, choose “Saved your progress before? Sign in with Google” first.
  3. Go to Profile → Settings and choose Delete account at the bottom, then confirm.

By email

If you can’t sign in any more, write to hello@hookabet.com from the email address of the Google account you linked, with the subject “Delete my account”. We delete the account within 7 days and reply when it’s done.

If you never linked a Google account and no longer have the browser you learned in, there is nothing that tells us which account was yours: an anonymous account holds no name and no email address.

What is deleted

  • your account and its link to Google (email address, name, profile picture);
  • all your progress: letters, words, answers, review schedule, XP and totals.

What stays, and for how long

  • Encrypted backups still contain your data for up to 30 days, after which it is gone from them too.
  • Usage statistics in PostHog are tied to a random ID, not to your name or email, and are kept for up to one year. If you want these deleted as well, tell us by email.
  • Likes you gave on hookabet.com were never linked to your account, so they stay, anonymously.
